I'm Sebastian Payne and in this

week's episode we'll be discussing the resignation of Sir Ivan Rogers and the

Whitehall fori over Brexit. For our first episode of 2017, I'm delighted to be joined by Alex Barker,

Ever heard of Sir Ivan Rogers? Well you probably hadn't before this week.

He was the UK's permanent representative to the EU, the nation's foremost diplomat in Brussels.

That was until he resigned on Tuesday.

Now Sir Ivan was due to sept down later in 2017,

but no one, least of all Downing Street, was expecting him to leave right before the

Brexit talks began.

In a coded resignation note, Sir Ivan suggested that his advice the government was being

ignored.

There was muddled thinking about Brexit in Whitehall

and the civil servants must not shy away from telling politicians the truth.
