Headspace Studio. Hi, I'm Sam and welcome to Radio Headspace. So as I was sitting down to write the other day, I felt a surge of gratitude and contentment.

And this reminded me of a time in my life when I thought I was about to get something that I had always wanted.

It was a time when I was being interviewed for my dream job.

I remember the interview going really well and waiting months to hear back.

During those months I felt full of optimism and hope and excitement.

When the call finally came a few months later, I was told that I had the job. I was ecstatic.

Everything became centered around this job. I concentrated on doing my very best and I had a surge of creative ideas about how we could improve our offerings.

It felt like my bad luck was turning around. But soon after I began the job, I realized that it wasn't right for me at all.

It turned out to be a bad fit for many reasons and I remember I was shocked by this.

How could something so seemingly perfect turn out to be all wrong? And I had thoughts like I'll never find the right fit or I'll always have to hustle to work for myself.

Then one of my favorite Zen stories came to mind. And I would like to share it with you.
