Just the colonial ties, the idea of rooting for a place that colonized my peoples.

So the World Cup wrapped up this past weekend with France beating Croatia 4 to 2.

After France won, people were quick to say that it was a win for Africa because so many

team members were either immigrants or the children of immigrants. Of course, there was backlash to that.

French people were saying they were like irked. This whole thing just really summarized so many

interesting parts of the debate around what it means to immigrate to a place, what it means to assimilate.

And I am joined by two fantastic people who have been following the World Cup really closely, but also I've been thinking about a lot of the issues that have come up off the field.
