Good evening. This is John Batchelor. The show begins tonight in Pennsylvania, the state of my birth,

and it's Lena Zito's birth. She's at the Washington Examiner and the Wall Street Journal,

looking at the Keystone State for guidance about how the election will go on Tuesday.

The observation, as far as Paris and London,

is that the winner of Pennsylvania, the Electoral College 19 votes, will win the presidency.

We also discuss J.D. Vance and his mom, Beverly,

whom I meet for the first time through an interview done by Selena.

She was deeply troubled with addictions, alcohol and drugs, and made it very difficult for J.D. Vance. However, now

she's on the vice president's candidate's plane and all smiles, and it's a wonderful ending to a very hard patch.

Then I turn to Richard Epstein to talk about the weaknesses and the strengths of each of the

major candidates. Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump, Richard comes to an opinion that neither of these

are his choice for the presidency.

However, and then to California, to talk to Bill Whalen, about critical votes in local votes in California.

Oakland has a recall of the mayor, and in San Francisco there there's a mayor's race. And London breed, the

present incumbent, is challenged by several votes. This is very carefully about not only the homelessness

bill tells me, but about the crime, especially the petty theft that has made it

impossible for store owners to maintain security on the street level in San Francisco,

what the Financial Times calls the doom loop. And then a conversation about, with Jeff Bliss,

about Dodger Town celebrating the World Series,

and the sphere in Las Vegas celebrating the World Series.

And then Jeff also takes me to Las Vegas where the plans are to build a giant in and out.

That's a very popular hamburger cheeseburger establishment in California.
