Hello, Ghost family. Sam here, coming to you with a preview of a new piece that I released today,

it's part of a brand new podcast called Sports Explains the World. And I am very privileged

to be the host of Sports Explains the World, which means that in most of the episodes,

you hear me at the beginning and the end of the episode, introducing the listener to the reporter

who's going to tell the story that week and then closing with some reflections on the story.

But in this particular story, I am the storyteller. I had the opportunity to report an episode

about the magic of baseball on the radio. And the reason I think that you folks would enjoy it

is because it's basically a family ghost story disguised as a sports documentary.

My jumping off point for this investigation is this memory that I have of my dad telling me

the definition of greatness, at least as far as he's concerned. And me pretending that I understood

what he said, but not actually understanding what he said. But knowing that the clue that I need

to figure it out is somewhere in the broadcast style of this legendary radio play by play guy named

Chuck Thompson. And so in this episode, I embark on a journey to understand what baseball play by

play broadcasters are doing. And in investigating this, I happen upon what turns out to be a very

profound answer to my dad's definition of greatness. I put absolutely everything that I have into

this story. I really did. And I am so excited for you all to hear this. So what I wanted to do here
