Haggai chapter 2 verse 4.

Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts.

Now there's more to this verse, actually, but I really want to hone in on just that phrase and

let it soak in.

So God's people are rebuilding the temple here and they're facing challenges. The work is not easy and they feel weak and weary

for a variety of reasons and God looks at them and he says to Zerebabel, to Joshua and to all

the people of the land, be strong and work.

For I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts.

Now, obviously, we are not in the same situation.

We're not building or rebuilding the temple in the Old Testament.

But you think about just this simple phrase, work for I am with you, declares the Lord of

hosts.

That totally applies to God's people in the New Testament and the work we do that God calls us to do.

Just think Colossians chapter 3, verse 23 and 24,

work wholeheartedly as working for the Lord, not for men. Or Jesus' promise as you go and make

disciples of all the nations, as you do this work that I've left you here in the world to do

I am with you always and so I just want to encourage you today in whatever work you are doing

that God has called you to do whether that's in a vocation whether that's in studies as a student

as a follower of Jesus the work you are doing to make

Jesus known in and through your life, work. For God himself is with you. May you be aware

at every moment of God's presence with you and for you to give you everything you need,
