One day recently, I came face to face with the question, what is the true source of our right activity?

I had been working on a project involving outreach to our community, and I discovered that an aspect of it had been thwarted. I felt saddened that I had nothing to show

for my efforts. Returning home, I spent some quiet time assessing the situation and why I felt

the way that I did. Surely aspects of the project were worthy of my efforts.

But as I sat and prayed, I was led to study a statement by the discoverer of Christian

science Mary Baker Eddy from one of her writings.

Goodness and benevolence never tire. That was just what I needed.

I had wrongly thought that I was the doer, that it was up to me to make meaningful things happen.

Now I was reminded that God is the only doer,

the source of all action, and that we as God's spiritual creation reflect this divinely derived

action in every worthwhile endeavor.

This truth was so illuminating for me that day.

I saw more clearly that what was and is always needed is complete reliance on God, who in every sense is the only source of all right

activity. This helps us break through any limitation thrown at us. With this refreshed outlook

and continued prayer, I revisited the situation and saw new ways to go forward.

If we ever feel that our God-directed, productive initiatives are in any way hindered,

let's know that every good and true thought,

every meaningful motive, every right act originates in God.

The goodness of our all-powerful God could never be thwarted. And as reflections of God,
