Isaiah chapter 42 verse 3

a bruised read he will not break

and a faintly burning wick he will not quench.

Wow. What imagery.

Part me wants to just pray according to this whole chapter

and even this whole passage surrounding this,

this is talking about

the servant of God, whom he will send,

it's a picture of Jesus in the Old Testament.

Verse 1 of Isaiah 42 says, I will put my spirit upon him. He will bring forth justice to the nations. That's the picture. This is

Jesus and it says in verse 3. A bruised read he will not break.

I just picture a read that is on the verge of breaking, that could break at any moment and Jesus doesn't let it break.

A faintly burning wick he will not quench this flame that is struggling to stay he will not put it out this is a

picture of God's love for us when we are bruised, when we are faint, when we are struggling, when our faith is struggling,

think about Jesus's words in Matthew chapter 11. Come to me all you who are

weary and burdened, heavy laden. Come to me all you who are bruised and faintly burning, and I will give

you rest.

You will find rest for your soul, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

I'm guessing there are some of you listening to this right now who feel bruised in any number of

different ways just hurting or walking through challenges where you feel frail or faintly burning, maybe even struggling in your faith,

struggling to trust God,
