Now, that may seem like a duh sort of a thing to say, but the scripture tells us specifically about this,

and we're going to be looking at it today in 2 Peter chapter 1, verses 16 through 18. So get out your Bibles. We're going to dig

Okay, let's dig into 2nd Peter chapter 1, but before we do, we are going to pray because we need

God to be our instructor today.

Lord, as we dig into your word, it is easy just to read the words and miss the meaning.

So please stir our hearts by your Holy Spirit to be attentive and like a sponge just to soak up the truth of your word.

We ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Okay, second Peter 1, 16 through 18.

Peter is giving his testimony of what he has seen regarding Jesus,

and he says, for we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and

coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His Majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father,

and the voice was born to him by the majestic glory, this is my beloved son with whom I am well

pleased. We ourselves heard this very voice born from heaven, for we were with him on the Holy Mountain.

Now, if you don't recall, this is a retelling of an event that happened in the Gospels.

Jesus had gone up onto a mountain, and he took with him Peter and James and John.
