We all would like to think that we know where we are going and how to get there.

But at every stage in life, we need divine direction. God has promised to guide us if we simply follow.

The fifth and final section of Psalms are referred to as

Typically, we say that complaining is wrong. Stay away from it. Don't be a complainer. And I would agree with that.

But there are occasions when there are difficulties, things that have to be addressed. And just like in life, you may go into a place of business and

register a complaint that's legitimate, that's needed, that would be helpful and constructive. Well, I want you to know that God has a complaint department.

And Psalm 142 brings us to that complaint department today.

It's a Psalm of David.

And interestingly enough, there is a title over this Psalm that tells us something about the

context.

It says it's a prayer when he was in the cave.

Now, I don't know about you, when I think of David, I think of him on the throne.

I think of him with the crown, scepter in his hand. But when he writes

Psalm 142, that's not at all where he is. He's in the cave. He's running for his life. This is the

prayer of a man who is totally overwhelmed by his circumstances. In fact, he's going to say that in

verse 3, that his spirit was overwhelmed.

Are you overwhelmed today?

I have circumstances overtaken you.

Are you just overcome with emotion?
