Ezekiel chapter 30, verses 1 through 4.

The word of the Lord came to me.

Son of man prophesy and say,

Thus says the Lord God, wail.

Alas for the day.

For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near. It will be a day of clouds,

a time of doom for the nations. A sword shall come upon Egypt, an anguish shall be in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt and her wealth is carried away and her

foundations are torn down. What a picture for Ezekiel to prophesy. To speak and not just speak,

but to wail because he knows the day is coming when Egypt,

Cush, the nations will experience the judgment of God, when all their wealth will be carried

away and all their foundations will be torn down. What a responsibility

for Ezekiel to proclaim this. As I read this, I think about you and me today. Obviously, we're not

in the exact same shoes that Ezekiel was in, but we know this. We know the end of the story.

We see revelation in the Bible. And not just revelation,

everything that leads up to it, God has made clear that one day the wealth of this world,

the wealth of nations in this world, I live in one of the wealthiest nations in the history

of the world, if not the wealthiest. And God's word makes clear, one day that wealth is just like

that, going to be gone. And all the foundations are going to be completely obliterated. A day of

judgment is coming for the nations, for my nation, for all the countries, all the people groups

of the world. We know this. We know this. So one, are we

wailing? Are we weeping? Do we see the wealth and the foundations that the world around us is built
