How is your spring going or at least, if you're in my hemisphere, how is your spring

going?

Have you listened to any good music lately?

I sure have.

I have been listening to and making a bunch of pretty cool music lately.

There's just something about spring that makes creativity come much more easily.

As you know doubt, no, if you've been listening to any of these recasts that I've been posting,

I am taking a break from making new episodes of Strong Songs, which means that I've been

bumping up older episodes into the main feed for folks who haven't heard them, and you'd

actually be surprised how many people haven't heard these episodes that I've bumped up so

far.

This time around, if you've got an episode I made in 2020 about Brian Wilson and Tony Asher's

near-perfect pop song, God Only Knows, recorded by the Beach Boys for their classic album

Pet Sounds in 1966.

This episode was a treat to make.

I still vividly remember making it and how it felt to transcribe the chords of this song,

and to just kind of see the whole thing come into focus for the first time.

I remember drawing a sort of amazed face on the chord chart that I had been drawing out

when I finished the bridge and realized how it circled back to the verse, just unbelievable

stuff.

I appreciated this song before I made an episode about it, but making this episode cemented
