Well, I want you to turn your Bible to Matthew Chapter 5, and we're going to begin a new series today

entitled Happiness Redefined.

And we're going to be going through the beatitudes for the next few weeks and the word

beatitude actually means happy so we're going to be talking about how

Jesus actually Jesus defined happiness but for us it's a redefinition of it because the world is trying to define it for us.

While you're turning let me just remind you that next Sunday night is the Habitation Service and we won't testimonies and testimonies of how God has used you to love other people,

how God is loving people through you and what I want you to do is send your testimonies.

All right, we're looking on to look at the beatitudes here,

and you need to understand something about the sermon on the mount.

The sermon on the mount was probably not the first sermon that Jesus preached, but it's the first sermon

that the Holy Spirit decided to list in the New Testament.

It is the most famous sermon that he preached.

It's probably the most complete that we have, although we have many parables in a row at one time that he said,

and we have many events that happened in a row, like in John 14, 15, 16, some teaching on the Holy Spirit.

But as far as a sermon, we would have to all agree this is the greatest sermon ever preached.

And like any good preacher in his introduction, he tells you what the whole sermon is going to be about.
