This is Christianity.

Christians are people who by definition exult in God

because they've opened the package

and seen him as compellingly reconciled and glorious and beautiful.

Short of that, we have not received reconciliation.

What does it mean for us to receive reconciliation from God?

In this episode of Light and Truth, John Piper turned Sir Romans 5 9 to 11 to

reveal the greatest good of the Gospel. This sermon was originally preached at Bethlehem Baptist Church on December

19, 1999.

And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Now let's take that little phrase, not only

this. What is that referring back to? Not only, but we exult in God. Not only this, but we exult in God. I think it refers back to the two other places where exultation is referred to in these

first 11 verses, namely verse 2 and 3. You have the exact same phrase in verse three. Notice it says in

verse three right at the beginning and not only this but we exult in

tribulations. You see that? It's parallel to not only this but we

exult in God in verse 11 and it says not only this but we exult in

tribulation. So he's got a chain going here. Well, what does that one refer back to?

What's the first element in this three-linked chain?

It's verse two.

At the end of verse two, you see, we exult exult same word three times it's used

exult exult exult exult or glory maybe in your Bible or rejoice we exult in the

hope of the glory of God so So now we got three exultations in this text.

Verse 2, we exult in the hope of the glory of God.
