Summary
Romans 9:10-13 - And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, 11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— 12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

| 0:00.0 | Thank you so much for joining me today. It's time for the morning mindset. If you're new to the morning mindset, my name is Carrie Green. I'm a retired pastor who is now teaching the word of God here online through the morning mindset |
| 0:15.2 | and hopefully through some other avenues here in the future, including some video, so keep |
| 0:20.2 | your eyes and your ears open for that. I welcome you. I'm glad you're here. We are looking at the book of |
| 0:26.3 | Romans chapter number nine and I have a little warning to give you here at the outset of this episode. This episode and the content |
| 0:35.8 | that it contains is going to be very difficult for some of you. It may be the very first time |
| 0:41.9 | you've heard scripture speak in the way it's going to speak today. |
| 0:45.8 | It may be a concept that you've never considered and it is going to be very hard to swallow. |
| 0:56.3 | But here is the approach that I have found helpful in situations like this. I need to first of all just calm my emotion |
| 1:01.1 | for a moment, take a deep breath, and just remind myself, |
| 1:06.0 | God is good, ultimately good. God is wise, supremely wise, and what he says can be trusted to be both of those things, both good |
| 1:22.4 | and wise. |
| 1:24.0 | And the problem, when I feel attention in my soul with anything that God says, |
| 1:29.0 | comes from the fact that I am neither ultimately good nor ultimately wise and so therefore I don't |
| 1:36.6 | see things the way that he sees them. |
| 1:40.2 | Sometimes my mind cannot fully grasp the importance and the grace and the power and the |
| 1:47.3 | majesty of what he's sharing with me. |
| 1:50.4 | And so I need to be careful that when I hear things from the scripture that do not jive immediately |
| 1:59.2 | with what is in my heart or in my understanding about life in the world, |
| 2:05.0 | that I don't reject it right off hand. |
| 2:08.0 | I have to stop and listen, I have to stop and pray, I have to stop and consider what God is saying deeply and ask His Holy Spirit to help. |
| 2:18.0 | Now I hope that warning, I hear two minutes into the episode, is sufficient to help us get through this passage today. |
| 2:24.7 | We'll come back to it tomorrow again because it's a very difficult passage, but I want us to read |
