I was reading an essay a few days ago by a social commentator and he made the

case that no generation in history has been through as much change as we have

since the 1960s. Think of all the change in just over half a century. The

internet was not around. Email, the smartphone, AI, transportation, post-Christian

culture, travel, gay marriage, civil rights, terrorism, globalism, the mapping of

the human genome, third wave coffee, just as significant of a scientific

development. All of it, the list is endless. No wonder there is so much social

unrest and emotional anxiety. So much change in all sorts of areas but especially

in sexuality. There have been five tectonic shifts in the way we think about and

express and process sexuality in the West in just one or two generations.

First, sex has been disconnected from child bearing and family. It's easy to

forget the birth control as we know it now dates back to 1960 when the FDA

approved the first oral contraceptive and it was not until 1972 that the

Supreme Court legalized it for single people. Think about that. Just your

grandparents, it was illegal for people without a husband or a wife.

Planned parenthood is running an ad campaign in our city. I'm sure you see it

all over. It was interesting. Walking into church night from the family parking lot.

By the way, if you park there and you're single, that does not mean like I'm in

the family of God parking lot. Okay, so just none of this. Seriously, every Sunday,

it means like you have a car seat in the back and three appendages that are human

beings. Anyway, but I was just walking in with my family. There's a giant billboard
