years. Paul, thanks for joining us from South Africa. I heard that you don't actually have power

at your house right now. You're on backup solar power. Tell us what it's like with these rolling

blackouts in South Africa. Thanks for having me on the show again, Sean. Great to be here. Yeah, we're back to

10 to 12 hours a day with no power. We had a bit of a respite about a month ago, but we've lost

another few thousand megawatts of capacity. I think one of our main power stations lost a unit.

So we have to make do with the rolling blackout schedule has to increase.

And what are the impacts socially, economically in your region in South Africa as a whole?

I mean, how are people dealing with this?

Yeah, it's obviously the economic impact is enormous.

Everyone, all small businesses have to have diesel generators.

If you think of places like restaurants, retail outlets, normal businesses, they have to make a plan.

I have a plan here with solar.

So I have batteries and I can run stuff all day long on solar power.

But for, you know, the small to medium enterprise, like, for instance, a restaurant or a, or a retailer, you know, like a drugstore or a supermarket, they're really struggling right now

because of the unpredictability of the schedules and the, yeah, the fact that there's no power. And diesel is quite expensive here.

So people are battling. Is there any price gouging with diesel?

There was two months ago, I think the local, I think the diesel authority, I can't remember the details of how, you know, who supplies diesel to the government, but they were charging our electricity utility, an exorbitant amount for diesel.

You know, they were gouging them, which, of course, when it came to light,

there was a lot of screaming and shouting, and that stopped.
