Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive into Genesis 30, verses 1, 14, 22, and 23.

Rachel faced a horrible trial. She was childless when she desperately wanted to be a mother.

Her attempts to solve this problem reflect how we often approach her struggles. The first thing

Rachel did was to go to her husband, quote, and when Rachel saw that she bared Jacob

no children, Rachel said into Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

The second thing Rachel did was to try to use the medical wisdom of her day.

And Rubin went and found mandrakes in the field and brought them unto his mother, Leah.

Then Rachel said to Leah, give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.

Now, just as a note during Old Testament times,

mandrakes were a plant commonly used

to increase fertility. Now, the last recorded thing Rachel did was to turn to God. And God

remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb. And she conceived and bear a son

and said, God hath taken away my reproach. Rachel's three searches for outside help were in this order,

her husband, science, and then God. But James 1-5 tells us, if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.

It doesn't say let him ask of God after he's checked the internet, talk to friends, and done an

Instagram poll. It simply says, let him ask of God. God might guide internet, talk to friends, and done an Instagram poll. It simply says,

let him ask of God. God might guide us to talk to a spouse or seek medical help to answer our

problem, but his wisdom should be the source we seek out first. So the takeaway of the day in five words
