I am delighted to have as my guest for this episode, Joan Watson, who is the author of a brand

0:28.7

new book, Making a Pilgrimage, a Companion for Catholics. Welcome, Joan.

0:34.0

It's great to be here, Dr. Hahn. It's great to be back together. You were working with us

0:37.9

at the St. Paul Center, oh, at least about 15 years ago or so. Yeah, a little more. Okay.

0:43.7

We don't need to get into the details there, but you're a Christendom grad for your bachelor's degree,

0:49.9

but you got a master's degree here as well. Yeah. And you went to Rome for the Christendom campus. And you also went to Rome way back when we once had a Rome campus for grad students, too. That pulled me to Steubenville. It was one of the reasons Franciscan really drew me was I thought, I can go back to Rome. I probably should have just gone to Rome to study my master's,

1:11.0

but it was for that heart of the church study, right? So I got to study with you here and then

1:16.5

to go into the heart of the church at Rome. So I think that's set the stage for your own reflections

1:22.2

that you have put together in this remarkable book, making aimage, which we here at the St. Paul Center,

1:29.4

are honored and privileged to have published with Emmaus Road.

1:32.9

But besides your undergraduate studies at Christendom and your master's degree here,

1:37.4

you went on to Nashville for, what, 14 years or so.

1:41.1

Yeah, 15 years of working in the church there for the Nashville Dominicans and then for the diocese itself.

1:46.6

And then just stayed in Nashville working as a speaker and a writer before moving to South Bend to work at a pilgrimage company.

1:52.8

Yeah.

1:53.1

So you're no stranger to people who regularly visit the St. Paul Center because you do letters from home.

1:59.0

You've also done a course for our Amas Academy on the

2:02.7

parables. I did one on the parables and one on women in Scripture. That's right. Two courses on Amas

2:07.2

Academy. We are very grateful for that. You're now in Notre Dame, South Bend, correct?

2:12.7

South Bend working for a small pilgrimage company called Verso Ministries. And my whole job is formation, actually.
