Hello, and welcome back to Practicing Human, the podcast where every day we're getting a little better at life.

0:06.4

I'm your host, Corey Muscarra, and in today's episode, we're going to talk about following a life

0:13.7

that is inspiring and scary. More to come on that in a moment. First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells.

0:30.0

Okay, so I'm going to start with the statement. I believe that each person should, at some point in their life, try going all in on something that makes them feel both inspired and terrified.

1:00.0

I mean, usually the things that inspire us the most often have something that creates some fear and terror.

1:12.0

And I think it's very easy to fall into a pattern of creating a safe life by safe. I mean something that makes our ego structure feel like it's okay.

1:29.0

It's not taking too much of a risk. It's following what it was told it should do at a certain point in time.

1:39.0

And also is not creating too much activation in the system. Maybe there's some anxiety that arises or some fear when we contemplate doing something.

1:53.0

But there's something else that doesn't really give us that aliveness in the same way, but it just feels stable, secure.

2:06.0

And I think there are a lot of times in life where that is actually potentially more of a growth edge for us.

2:14.0

Maybe we've really conditioned ourselves to just be spontaneous and just going to follow whatever I want to do.

2:23.0

And like there's a growth edge and actually going to, oh, actually now there's a point of really committing to one thing and staying here and building this and not avoiding something that feels like stable and secure.

2:43.0

So I'm not throwing that out. All of that, you know, what brings you aliveness and what is a growth edge for you is uniquely yours.

2:56.0

It's just going to vary from person to person. So it requires an honest conversation with yourself around is what I'm doing here purely out of trying to feel safe and okay.

3:10.0

Arrange my external world such that I don't feel like I'm taking too much of a risk and it's predictable or not.

3:21.0

And the thing is if we're always only playing it safe, then we never get to feel what it's like to be truly alive.

3:31.0

And to see what becomes possible when we follow that inner voice of inspiration that also can be accompanied with some fear and it's beckoning us into a fuller expression of ourselves.

3:50.0

And when I say that this is like following this makes us feel more alive.

3:59.0

It's because we are intimately interfacing with our life. We're just honestly meeting, wow, the aliveness in me is pulling me in this direction.

4:12.0

And all these patterns I have are telling me I'm scared to do it. But the most alive thing that I can identify is being pulled here.

4:23.0

And so again, the reason I say it's like you get to experience what it's like to be truly alive with this is because the very thing that you're following in this instruction is your aliveness, your inherent aliveness, your life force.

4:42.0

It's moving through you that is separate from the mind's conditioning and emotions of fear or anxiety.
