The theme of the day today appears to be, wait for it, backtracking.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen.

The government is backtracking on NHS waiting list targets.

They're now denying they're going to be able to reduce the queues inside of three years.

It was only a couple of days ago.

They said, oh, we can definitely get the

queues down, the waiting list down from about six million after 2024. March 2024, to be

precise. They now reckon that it will be 2025 before they see any type of reduction whatsoever.

And they're not even sure if by then they won't have reached something like 10 to 11 to 12 million people waiting for an NHS procedure. Absolutely extraordinary. Sponsors are dropping away from Kurt Zuma and West Ham in the wake of the cat kicking scandal. And yesterday the cats themselves were removed from his house by the RSPCA. So I guess they weren't as well as he made them out to me.

Sadiq Khan also appears to be on the backtracking machine.

He's support for Metropolitan Police Chief Cressers.

And Dick seems to be evaporating.

He's saying if she doesn't come up with a good plan in the next week or so,

things are going to get a little bit hairy for her and she may end up out of a job. The Metropolitan Police themselves, of course, are also backtrecking on their investigation at Downing Street, threatening to email

50 people to ask them what they know and when they knew it. Well, call me old-fashioned,

it doesn't sound much like a police probe to me. More like an HR exercise, isn't it? I mean,

in the days when people did proper police inquiries, they used to sort of knock

on your door, sit you down and take a statement. Now they're just emailing you to ask you what
