Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Johnson franchise tagged earlier this week.

But yesterday the Bears and Johnson agreed to a four-year $76 million contract extension.

Big Peace lockdown on defense for the Bears. So since we're talking about Chicago and we've got to talk about the first overall pick, it's kind of an obligatory connection there and the quarterback spot. Just a reminder as we look at Charles Davis' mock draft version 1.0, basically every other mock draft. It has Caleb Williams. Hey, Caleb Williams has said, I want to go number one. Kind of doesn't matter where that is, but he wants to be the number one overall pick. It's still the Bears in their hands right now. So we're a week removed from all the chatter out in Indianapolis at the Combine, where we saw many of those names work out, participate in some capacity. Our thoughts is they stand now on the bear's current quarterback situation.

I think the Johnson news is actually significant. And I go to something that Adam Schaefter

tweeted out, which is smart. The Bears have now made three huge investments at all three levels

of their defense in the last calendar year. So Montez Sweat got a four-year huge deal.

Tremaine Edmonds, the linebacker got a four-year huge deal, and now Jalen Johnson.

The thought was Jalen Johnson would be

franchised, and all season we heard about Jalen Johnson's going to walk. He wants this deal. When the salary cap numbers went up, and I'm telling you, I think it went up more than what people expected. It gave a little bit more wiggle room for these teams to reassess their programs about the off-season and see what they're going to do.

So they say, okay, we're going to lock up Johnson. And now you've got three stars on defense. You've got some players on office. You've got DJ Moore. You got this first overall pick. I think going into the combine, the thought was, well, we'd listen to offers. We'll see what we can do. We have Caleb Williams in our back pocket, of course, but let's see what we can do with Justin Fields. I got to think that right now, as they
