We are going to begin here with that new holiday spending

forecast. Some potentially concerning findings for retailers and chief business correspondent.

Rebecca Jarvis is here with more on this. This is really surprising stuff, Rebecca.

Yeah, it's surprising. And we are not even at Halloween yet. But here we are with the spooky numbers out this morning and today, you guys.

So the stores are getting ready to really capitalize on this because of this potentially scary data for retailers.

A new report out today from PWC says consumers are expected to spend 5% less than last year.

This is the first big drop since 2020. Remember

where we were back then. That was the pandemic. Consumers were surveyed in June when there was a lot

more uncertainty around tariffs. So these sentiments, they might evolve throughout the holiday season.

But one group that is expected to pull back the most is Gen Z. They expect to reduce holiday spending by 23%.

Some of the big reasons why inflation.

It is still running hot. People are spending so much more today than they were just a couple years ago.

PWC also found that 78% of those surveyed are looking for less expensive alternatives to products and

Google searches for discount and coupon code have climbed by 11% this year. I am definitely

part of the reason for that and that means retailers are trying to pull out the stops to win your dollar.

For example, right now Pottery Barn is offering 50% off on Halloween items.
