Leading economists say they're concerned we could be heading towards a global recession, after U.S. markets

saw their worst day since 2020. President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs were felt in economies

across the world, but he says they're going well, and compared it to

giving a patient surgery. The new 10% duties haven't even taken effect yet. They're expected

to start at the end of this week and next. And Republican lawmakers, Wall Street investors,

and foreign leaders are waiting to see whether the tariffs are set in stone, because in the

past, Trump has used the threat of levies as a negotiating tactic.

But Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik says he's not bending.

I don't think there's any chance that President Trump's going to back off his tariffs.

This is the reordering of global trade.

Auto tariffs have started, and US carmaker Stalantis has already announced temporary layoffs
