China is introducing a 34% tariff on all U.S. imports from April 10th.

The country is making good on its promise to strike back against President Donald Trump's duties.

It'll be a dollar-for-dollar match on the extra Chinese tariffs announced by Trump on Wednesday,

which took the total to 54%.

The move is set to cause a major reset of relations and worsen trade tensions between

the world's two largest economies.

We asked CNN's Mark Stewart for the latest from Beijing.

Hi there, Joe, China said it would fight back, and it is on a Friday evening here in Beijing.

These additional tariffs are broad, but will really hurt American farmers and the agriculture

industry, as China depends on the U.S. for soybeans.

Already they've been facing tariffs.

This comes at a time when China is also trying to portray itself as a stable force on the global stage.

We heard some remarks from a Chinese official during a visit to Hungary that are getting some attention.

Saying in part China is willing to work with the EU to oppose protectionism and bullying.

The US economy added a stronger than expected 228,000 jobs in March.

That's a jump from February's 117,000, but the unemployment rate ticked up by 0.1% to 4.2.

Economists had been expecting job growth to slow, but the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics

shows another solid month of gains that continues the historic expansion of the worker markets.

It's not clear what impact tariffs and possible trade wars could have, though, with uncertainty

on the rise.
