Hi, Mila, this one's for you.

I am so happy that Mila asked for this episode because Gladys Illward was one of those people in history who simply

lights up the screen with her story. Her faith in God has always been such an inspiration to me.

Gladys May Aylward was born into a working class family of London in

1902.

Her father worked for the Postal Service

and the family lived a very modest life.

Gladys went to school until she was 14 years old,

and at 14, she became a shop assistant and then a maid.

As a young girl, Gladys loved to have fun,

and although she was really very shy,

she would often dance with her friends.

She would go dancing and to the theater.

One evening, when she was 18 years old,

Gladys and a friend were on their way to a dance

hall when they got caught up in a crowd and separated from each other.
