The giving of thanks to God for his goodness and blessing should be a normal part of the life

of every child of God. As a matter of fact, Thanksgiving is not simply an event, a day on the

calendar, but should be a way of living and thinking.

In this series entitled, Thank the Lord, Scott Pauley will teach us through First Chronicle

16 on the importance of giving thanks on purpose. Our prayer is that your heart will be filled

with gratitude to the Lord for all he has done.

Everything that is worth doing must be done on purpose.

Nothing just happens.

People sometimes look at things in the work of the Lord and think,

well, this just happened. No, my friend, if something good is going on, you'll know this. God did it,

and people labored with him. This is just God's way. Study of the Bible. We must be intentional. We must be personal.

And today we begin a very short but I think needful study on giving thanks on purpose.

You know, sometimes people say, well, I'm thankful.

And then everything that comes out of their mouth is anything but thankful.

If you're going to be a thankful person, you're going to have to be purposeful about it.

How often do you say, thank the Lord, and perhaps even more thought-provoking, how often when

you say thank the Lord, do you actually mean it? Our study this week comes from First Chronicles.

Now, that is probably not the most familiar book in your Bible. I would say First Chronicles,

the pages may still stick together. Maybe they're white and clean because we've spent so little time

there, but First Chronicles is full of the history of God's people,
