Summary

Too many of us have given stress and anxiety a permanent seat at our table. We live layered between regrets from yesterday and worry about tomorrow. Yet in the Lord's Prayer we here the simple decree that can set us free. 0:21.0	Last week and this week, we are looking at the model prayer of Jesus.
0:25.0	A prayer that most people know if I started it, you could almost finish it.
0:29.0	We go out strong and we all start waiting for that next little phrase or word.
0:33.0	But almost everyone in our gathering today knows our Father, you say the next line.
0:39.0	Everyone knows this prayer.
0:41.0	Someone dies in a movie.
0:43.0	You are going to hear either the 23rd Psalm or the Lord's Prayer.
0:46.0	Everybody knows this is something.
0:48.0	But what Jesus is trying to do for you and me today is He is trying to release us from living in the stress sandwich.
0:58.0	You are like, what is the stress sandwich?
1:01.0	What is that?
1:02.0	Well, the stress sandwich is when you put a little slice of today in between the two larger slices of the regret of yesterday and the worry about tomorrow.
1:17.0	So you get two pieces of bread which are represented by all the regret of the things that didn't go right yesterday or that I wish were different about yesterday.
1:27.0	That is one slice.
1:28.0	The other slice is all the worry I have about what is going to happen in all these different scenarios tomorrow.
1:36.0	You take those two pieces together and in between you put today and that is called a stress sandwich.
1:43.0	And that is what most of us are eating for lunch every day.
1:47.0	We are chewing on the regrets of yesterday.
