Summary

A straightforward bunch sprint day in the Giro d'Italia gave some respite to the GC contenders ahead of Zoncolan tomorrow. Benji and LR discuss who Quickstep should sign for bunch sprints next year as well as Dan Martin's comments after the Montalcino stage the other day. We also recap stages 1 and 2 of the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas, a World Tour level race for the women's peloton with all the usual suspects in attendance and a very challenging parcours.

Welcome back to the Lantern Rouge cycling podcast supported by Nicole here with Benji Nice and on a Friday Arvo for a pretty leisurely zero stage 13 from Ravenna to Verona

0:12.0

199 kilometers about zero meters altitude gain to an intermediate sprint for Chicholamino and then for bonus seconds.

0:21.0

So again is in the Chicholamino jersey and this was going to be a bunch sprint. No questions, no ifs, no bats, even though Cavalier tried some echelon action with like 50k's to go.

0:31.0

He couldn't for me. If you're watching Cavalier trying to do that with 50k's to go, you're true to generate respect to you, but get some help.

0:41.0

I mean, no offense offense intended. Okay, in all seriousness, the break went with the familiar suspects, Revy, Maranga and Pello, their DS's only want to put them in breakways that have a zero percent chance of success.

0:57.0

Love it from Androni. I mean, what are they doing with Pello? It actually is a waste of his talent. He's very strong.

1:04.0

Savio puts him in these breaks. It's a waste of time. He's going for it. He's going. Yeah, what's he going for? There is some method to the madness, right?

1:11.0

Yes, yes, yes. There's a huge method undergoing all of this and it's a fact that there's a classification with the amount of kilometers you go into a break when who is in the break today, Maranga and Pello, who is at the top of that standing?

1:24.0

Maranga and Pello. I think they both care about the standing. They saw that the other one went and they followed him.

1:29.0

Is it an official RCS thing? Is it an official RCS thing?

1:33.0

As an extra to that, Pello actually dropped my angle for a tiny bit in the race to try and gain even more coloners on his closest competitor.

1:42.0

We don't really care about it. It's really fun to see people play.

1:47.0

If you see that classification, even play a role in the duo, it's just funny.

1:51.0

But like you said, nothing happens in the stage. I don't really have too much to offer than the break was caught and Cavania had some fun and that's about it.

2:01.0

I went for the mass sprint in the end and to be honest, we had a few candidates yesterday that we mentioned.

2:07.0

You said, it needs all I said, Viviani. I was thinking this morning, perhaps, we were going to make a scumbag or something.

2:12.0

Yeah, we didn't talk about him enough. We missed out talking about coronavirus yesterday on a stage like this.

2:18.0

I think when it comes to the teams that were trying to take control, it was Quebecer that took control quite early, indeed, with 2.2 kilometres to go.

2:30.0

6K people? Was it 6K already?

2:33.0

6K is to go. There's a lot of road furniture, some roundabouts, the usual stuff after a sleepy day.

2:40.0

They came to the front really early with Campananas, full-trained, they had a thing of all shine on the back wheel, marking Nitsola's back wheel on the European champs,

2:50.0

Giozzi, DSM with Nicholas Roche, who were moving up, I presume, for Max Cantor, super early as well.
