Welcome back to Lantern Rouge cycling podcast LRH with Benji presented by Zwift as always the pod throughout the off season.

It's Zwift season. I'll tell you about my Zwift goals in a second.

But this is the Giro d'Italia 2023 Root reaction podcast, a little bit tardy with it because, well, I had to fly back from Australia to Andora.

And just like when I first did that trip, landed, did a Giro reaction to a stage, we're going to do another Giro reaction straight off the plane.

So 35 hours of traveling, probably not the sharpest coffee in hand, but I'm jeered up for this route because it's a nice...

It's a nice route, Benji. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think so as well. There's a nice balance between the features that we like in a ground tour.

We like seeing quite a bit of time trial kilometers and then quite a bit of climbing kilometers to even that out across the spectrum.

And I think this ground tour definitely has that. We see in total that this ground tour takes on a granita partenza in central Italy.

So we're starting off at the center in Italy this time. Last year we had the Hungary start.

So we're going back home to Italy for the Giro d'Italia. So I do enjoy that personally.

And it kind of stays in central Italy for quite a bit in the first week to then venture over towards these Swiss Alps a bit in the second week, going towards the Dolomite Climes in Italy in the third week.

So that's the idea I have of this parkour basically when I see it the first time around.

No Sicily, no Sardinia. Do you think they'll be happy about it?

The first thing I noticed about this route is I feel like RCS have listened to some complaints about long-ass transfers.

And the transfers look really, really good if you're a rider.

Like some of them are starting in the same town like the Swiss one finishes in the Swiss town and then starts the next day in the same town.
