opened and got soaked and came home very slowly and very sorry for myself. Did the final stage

on Sunday lift the mood at all or was it just a little bit of a procession in the end?

No, for me, I am so, so happy for Chad Hager and Team Sunweb.

I'm so delighted for that because Team Sunweb obviously had a rotten Gero.

They lost their leader.

They lost Tom so early on, stage five, I think it was.

Tom DeMulan, who was second favourite, wasn't he, going into this?

Yeah, of course, yeah. You know, his previous winner of the Giro, second last year, Tom Dumiland was one of the favourites coming in and they lost him.

And suddenly they lost their whole kind of purpose to the Giro.

They weren't coming for stage wins.

They were coming to win the whole thing.

And that was taken from them.

So for them to walk away with a stage win and for Chad Hager as well it's his first ever grand tour stage

win and of course if you remember he was one of the riders caught up in that awful horror crash

three years ago a training road crash where a car came head on into a group of then giant riders

now team Sunweb riders um and I mean, he had 96 stitches on his face, down his neck.
