Hello and welcome back to talking Giants. Surprise. It's February 3rd,

2006, and Matt Nagy is the new Giants offensive coordinator. My name is Just Manick,

alongside with me, is Sean Marash. Matt Nagy came out of complete left field. I'm in the office this morning

and Dalton Philly comes up with the phone, gets out of his chair, comes up with the phone to me,

and says, the New York Giants have hired offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs,

former head coach of the Chicago Bears, Matt Nagy, and I said, no, they didn't.

Because this was on nobody's radar, Sean.

Yeah, and unless I'm going nuts, when Todd Monkin first got the Brown's job last week,

I think Matt Nagy was like an initial initial first name said like to watch out for,

like it was out there quickly.

But then as the weekend went along and we kept hearing about the names formulated he faded to the background and we didn't hear anything anything set up about interviews or anything and

then I you know I know we just did a podcast that I encourage you guys to listen to an episode

of talking giants where we broke down the defensive guys we got to I know that that episode you know, we got time here. That episode is never going to be listened to.

So I really do suggest after you listen to this one, listen to that one, listen to that one. Listen to that one. But we kind of went through and said, yeah, we got time here on the offensive coordinator stuff. And, you know, there's a couple brief names here. And last week, we rattled off a bunch of names. Yeah, I think it did take some people by surprise, and I'm curious, because I don't, the best thing about this show right now is I have no idea what Justin's actual thoughts are. And I don't think he knows my actual thoughts. So I don't know. Let's break it all down and kind of, you know, Wade through being surprised here by Matt Nagy here joining John Harble. All right. So why don't you tell me first. What's your initial reaction when you hear

the news? Okay. So where I sat today on WFAN, that news comes up 10 minutes before the show.

And I could just give you my honest answer. When I looked down and I said,

hmm, okay, okay. And I think that that reaction, if you want to read into it, is I'm not overly pumped up about it, but I don't also think it's the worst higher in the world. So that's just baseline. And then, of course, you have to do some deep digging, which I did a little bit. And I have to be honest, Justin, I think I get where a lot of people are coming from. and I don't mean to put everybody in a broad base here.

I know you were joining us live.

It felt like the overwhelming reaction from everybody out there and talking Giants world, all our giant fans, was a lot of negativity.

Matt, negativity.

And I don't really understand that.

I guess I understand it a little bit.
