Summary

Dan and Nick recap another mentally exhausting loss by the Giants where they had ample opportunities to win a game they dominated from a time of possesions standpoint, got key stops in, but ultimately couldn't convert drives into touchdowns due to a slew of dropped passes and missed deep throws. They dive into what happens, where they go from here, check in on how hot/cold Brian Daboll's seat is and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome back. It's the big blue banter, New York Giants football podcast. And it seems as a fan base, Nick, and we're doing this live.

0:53.4

So we're going to let some people get in before we get too into it. But it seems as a fan base, we're just destined to this kind of life for now. It's just unbelievable. We can't get happy. We're destined for unhappiness. And I said this to you before the show before we start recording. It feels like it's a broken record at this point when we talk before our shows. It's like, I keep thinking and saying to you and you agree with me on these things because I think it's obvious that the Giants should have won this game. The Giants had so many opportunities to win this game. And they didn't win this game. And how many times are we going to say the Giants should have won this game? Yeah, there are some blowouts that have happened. Oh, sorry, I had a little bit of issue there with the sound. But the Giants, look, there's been some blowouts, too, in the last five, 10 years of this failure of a franchise. But there have been so many of these games, Nick, where they

1:44.7

should have won and they didn't win. And it seems like they're always coming out on the wrong

1:48.7

end. And so let's start there, man. Like what are the giants right now? Why did they keep

1:53.0

find themselves these games where it looks like they should win and they don't win?

1:57.8

I would say, let's just stick with this game specifically. The Giants are relying so much. And this is

2:04.3

kind of the entire time with Daible. And it's not, I don't feel like a referendum on Daible, but they

2:09.6

rely so heavily on efficiency. And when you rely on efficiency, it makes you play perfect football.

2:15.2

You can't have drop passes. There's only really one way to win the football game, and that is to be efficient, but then be efficient in the freaking red zone or have your defense make stops on the defensive side of the football to prevent touchdowns. Then you keep it low scoring and kind of boring, and it's a sludge fest. Well, the Giants were efficient. Daniel Jones was very efficient. You look at his final numbers, like oh like, oh, wow, that's really efficient. Look, he really didn't have any incompletions.

2:36.7

But how many plays did Daniel Jones leave on the field because he couldn't complete the deep passes that were there? Those opportunities were there to be seized on, Dan. Those opportunities were there. And the Giants cannot complete him. And kudos to Jones for being able to keep the game on script and all that.

2:34.0

Yeah, that's all well and good.

2:35.1

But you're not going to win football games consistently with that approach. him and kudos to Jones for being able to keep the, keep the game on script and all that.

2:50.3

Yeah, that's all well and good, but you're not going to win football games consistently with that approach when you're not executing when the explosive play is there to be executed upon, especially when you have guys who are getting open, Malik neighbors, he's getting open, Darius Slayton, he's getting open. But the Giants are relying on throwing the ball to Wondell Robinson, two yards down the field and have him make like
