| 0:50.2 | Join as always by my co-os, Nick Vallado, coming to you on just a few hours rest after a late Thursday night game against the Dallas Cowboys, another loss for the Giants. Today we're here to break down the tape on the offensive side of the ball. We're going to get to a lot on this podcast. I want to start with something that I've seen on Twitter a bunch today, Nick, and it's just this, I Jordan Ron on started by tweeting out, |
| 1:11.4 | and it got a lot of traction. Like, you know, you can blame the game on anything, blame it on this, blame it on that, but the Giants ran the ball for 1.9 yards per carry. That's the reason they lost this game. And I take personal exceptions to that. Well, I do think there's a lot to gain from the physicality of running the football, Nick, and how you can wear defense down. |
| 1:09.3 | And specifically, if they were able to run the ball in the red zone, I think it would have had a big factor in this game. But overall, from the tape I saw, they used the passing game as an extension of the run game. And they were 21 of 24 at one point in the short passing game, chewing up as much yards as they would have got running the football, equally essentially accomplishing the same goal while at the same time, some have said, but what about the play action passing game? I don't know, man. I watch these play action shots, and I see them working, and I see the linebackers reading their keys, like linebackers do on all play action plays and going up into the box by reading their keys. |
| 2:01.3 | So I don't think it affected the play action game. And I think they created a lot of yards with a short passing game as an extension of the run game. So when I look at the biggest factors for why the Giants lost this game, yes, it doesn't look good to run from 1.9. And yes, I wish the red zone running would have been better. And you add a layer of physicality. but my god there are so many reasons why they lost this game besides not running the football |
| 2:00.2 | 100% yeah, I understand what Jordan is saying. You want to have success running the football and makes you a multi-dimensional. And again, that physical element cannot be understated, but the Giants still outpossessed the Cowboys by 11 minutes. They just didn't complete the plays they needed to complete in the high leverage |
| 2:34.5 | situations down in the red zone and near the red zone. |
| 2:37.3 | And the drop passes didn't help. |
| 2:39.3 | And Daniel Jones not executing on those explosive plays and underthrowing the ball |
