Hey, everybody, welcome back to the podcast.

I'm going to get right to the guest today. It is

Austin Slater, who has spent a couple weeks as a first baseman. He is moving back to the outfield

now with Brain and Belt back and getting installed once again as the everyday guy at first.

But it was a couple of good weeks for Austin. I thought he did a pretty good job at first,

a solid job.

I talked to him about this over the weekend as he was kind of getting more comfortable there

and made a couple good plays.

And also it continues to do a good job with the play.

As he has at every level, he's hitting for average, he's getting on base.

The power's not really there yet, but I think that's something he believes will come as you'll hear during this conversation. So I think a good

couple weeks for Austin, he finally got a shot long term. It certainly helps his cause that he can

play first base and showed them that he can do that. I think that'll help his cause going

forward in terms of walking up a roster spot

and maybe giving Bruce Bochy another backup there.

Short term, hopefully they just put him back in left field and let him play every day.

They've said a couple times this year that they're going to make him the everyday guy out there,

and then they've responded both times by not doing that.

But Austin got his shot to play
