This is the Big Blue Banter podcast, and we're here to break down game film on the New York Giants and meet that game film with analytics and the eye test. I'm Dan Schneier. I'm your co-host. I'm joined, as always, by Nick Turchin. And today, we're going to be breaking down days two and three of the NFL draft of New York Giants. We're going to take a look back on the draft as an overall scope. And as usual, we're going to get to your questions. So let's jump right in with the Giants' first pick on day two. And yes, the Giants hung with that pick, number 95 overall. They acquired via the Cleveland Browns, the trade of O'Dale-Backham Jr. Many people thought the Giants would try to trade up on day two. There were a lot of discussion about potentially trading up into the third round, earlier in the third round by fans. It never came to fruition. Dave Gettleman, after the draft class, said at times they considered trading up from that number 95 overall pick, but at least according to Gettleman,

1:45.2

it was for the player that they ended up drafting, and that's O'Shaen, Examinant. And I don't know exactly how to pronounce his last name. You had to see their Examiners, Examinz. We'll find out the Giants call him the X-Man. That's his nickname. So I'm going to go with that for this podcast until I get a better pronunciation of his name. But when they were sitting on the board at number 95 or all, I could see them going in either

a few directions, Nick.

2:05.0

I did think that this was one of the spots where they would be meeting need with value.

2:10.9

And that doesn't happen throughout the entire draft.

2:12.8

And we'll get that later where the Giants did prioritize value over need in a lot of spots.

2:17.1

But in this spot,

2:18.0

I knew that there would have an opportunity to match need with value. And the two biggest

2:22.1

needs at the time were edge rusher and offensive tackle. Just 10 picks after Edge Jalen Ferguson,

2:28.0

who the Giants brought in for one private visit, multiple visits throughout the process,

2:32.3

came off the board at number 85. And then when the Giants picked his Emines or the X-Men, they were still offensive tackles Yad Nika Juice, who I like at West Virginia and Bob Yevins, who I really like personally at Oklahoma. But they grabbed the X-Men anyway. So, Nick, what did you see on film from X-Men when you broke him down? And how can he help the Giants in year one and then moving forward?

2:52.6

Yeah, the X-Man is an interesting guy to watch at O'DU, only a 10 football program

2:57.7

there, a young program down in Norfolk.
