from the twin perspectives of faith and reason. In this episode, we're talking about the story of

John Sabold and his wedding to a beautiful ghost bride. I'm Dom Betanelli and joining me today is

Jimmy Aiken. Hi Jimmy. Howdy Dom. In the early 20th century, John Sabold was a salt of the

earth Kansas farmer. But by 1927, John was alone in the world and he sought consolation by contacting

the world of the spirits. Eventually, he met a ghost named Sarah and the two of them really

hit it off. They concluded that they were soulmates and decided to get married. So who was John

Sabold and who was Sarah and were they able to find happiness together? That's what we're talking

about on this episode of Jimmy Aiken's mysterious world. So Jimmy, tell me who is this central figure

in our story today? His name was John Sabold and he was born around 1855, so he was about 10 years old

when the American Civil War started. And he was 71 or 73 when our story is set. You'll see him

said to be both 71 and 73 in different accounts. In 1927, he was living in the town of liberal

Kansas. And for our overseas listeners, Kansas is a state that's smack dab in the middle of the

United States. I also grew up near there in Arkansas, which almost shares a corner with Kansas.

Liberal was founded in 1888 when John would have been about 33 years old. The name of the town

reportedly comes from its founder, SS Rogers, who built the first house there in 1872. Rogers
