Around three months ago, I went to my coming of age ceremony with a picture of my friend,

who passed away from a heart attack in junior high. We were best friends who hung out pretty

much every single day. At the time, I had no idea that we'd be attending our coming-of-age

ceremony like this. After the mayor's speech and everything else was finished, almost all

of our old classmates got together for a photo. However, when I got

my hands on the developed photo a few days later, I saw that the portrait of my friend was

now smiling. His face should have been expressionless. I wasn't really that scared, though.

Ah, he must have been happy to see everyone again, I thought.

But I was wrong.

Not long after we took that photo, the girl who was standing next to me died.

My friend had a crush on her back in the day, so I guess he was actually happy because

he knew he'd be seeing her soon.
