Summary
First thing: This is part 1 of Amy’s talk with Nicole Modic (@KaleJunkie) about her love-hate relationship with her body, and how she measured her self-worth based on her physical appearance. All of this led to a long battle with compulsive eating & bulimia, that lasted through her teenage years, law school, and even in her career as a lawyer. However, true healing is possible, she is living proof of it! Second things: Adam Bobo of @AreteNashville is back to talk through the benefits of Intermittent Fasting. Amy learned that she has likely been going too many hours without food...as Bobo explains that the time frame without food should be different for men and women. Third thing: If you have kids that are fighting...you NEED to know about the “Get Along Shirt.” It could be just the thing you need to get your kids to make up as quickly as possible. Fourth thing: Amy talks with fellow radio friend Carla Marie (@theCarlaMarie) about being a female in a male dominated field and how women can often be misunderstood.

| 1:40.0 | Welcome to another episode of 4 Things. I am a |
| 2:09.9 | Amy Brown, the host and pretty pumped about today's 4 things. 3 out of the 4 interviews, which sometimes I have no interview, sometimes I have at least 1 interview out of the 4 but today interview heavy. So up first I've got kale junkie which her name is Nicole her Instagram handles at kale junkie and she's awesome. She is getting vulnerable with us today and starting her story with us because I'm going to have her on a couple of times but today we're going to start with a couple of times. |
| 2:37.9 | But today we're going to start with her eating disorder past and when she thinks that started and her issues with food and then you know what kind of get into that part of her life and then later have her back on talk about when she started to heal from it and I just hope that this will give y'all hope that if you do struggle with food or body image and I think this is great for anybody to listen to because somebody in your life is probably going through this and you may not even know it like Nicole is going to share. |
| 3:06.9 | How people in her life had no idea how broken she was on the inside and the relationship she was having with food and that she was throwing up and because on the outside she had it all together she's a lawyer looked great. |
| 3:22.9 | But inside she was really damaged so I feel like it's just it's a good one and I'm excited that Nicole is willing to share her story with us for at least like I think I've got like three episodes coming up with her also on today's episode Adam Bobo is back he is the IV guy here in town he's come on the before and talked about you know getting hydration and vitamins through IV and he's awesome but he does a lot of things with his body and he's really knowledgeable about it. |
| 3:52.9 | He's really knowledgeable about people and health and fitness and like he'll test out his body for certain things like hope to see if it works like you know celery juices all the rage so he'll drink it for 30 days or he'll go keto for 30 days just to see how he feels. |
| 4:04.9 | So I asked him to come on and talk about intermittent fasting because I have done it but I'm not an expert on it and he has way more knowledge about our bodies and how they function and why intermittent fasting is good for you but he does have tips for females versus males and I learned that as a female I was kind of fasting to him. |
| 4:21.9 | I was kind of fasting too long so I'm now implementing some tips that I learned from Bobo from my little talk with him so excited to have him on and then I have a tip for parents out there I have something called the Get Along shirt I mean if you're not a parent you might need this for you know just your spouse or your boyfriend or maybe just a friend in your life like we all might need to get a get along shirts so just a quick little thing on that and then lastly |
| 4:50.9 | another interview with my girl Carla Marie she does a show in Seattle and morning sure she works for Iheart media but like me she's a female in this industry which you know if you're in it you you know it's a male dominated industry and so she has a lot of thoughts on that and sometimes what what we have to deal with or how she's perceived and I even agree with some of the stuff she was saying like I yeah I feel that way too but she I'm a co-host on my show in Bobby's the highlight of what I'm doing and I'm doing the same thing that I'm doing is not available for me. |
| 5:19.9 | I'm doing a show in Bobby's the host whereas she is the host of her show with another guy like it's 50 50 it's their show and people just always assume that she's the co-host so anyway she deals with some different issues because she gets to be in more control and say things and then all the sudden people think she's being a diva when she's not doing anything different than a guy would be doing so we got that coming up with her which I just adore her personality and she's awesome and you know also has a story and I'm |
| 5:49.9 | trying to do a lot of working hard for what you want so like if you got a dream chase it because she's someone that started in New York working for the Elves Durant show on the bottom the at the bottom and now she has her own morning show in Seattle so you work hard you can make things happens so thank you carl and we're coming on and I guess that's the that's the menu for the show today but before we get into the actual podcast oh I do want to say that Bobo wanted me to add after we got done recording |
| 6:19.9 | that he's a fan of how intermittent fasting will increase your metabolic rate so if you're looking to increase your metabolism I think he said it's like by 4% it'll increase if you but just simply by implementing intermittent fasting so he didn't he didn't say that in the interview so he's like if you could tell people that that be great because I wanted to say that so Bobo shout out I got you and quickly I want to give another shout out to my friend Caroline Hobbies podcast |
| 6:49.9 | and it's called get real Caroline hobby she sits down with the wives of successful artists like country male artists in our industry and some of the main interviews you should check out that she's got some that I noted that are pretty good are with Luke Bryan's wife Caroline Bryan Abby Smires which is Dan's wife of Dan a J. |
| 7:13.2 | Caitlin Brown came Brown's wife and Cassie Kelly which is Charles Kelly's wife he's in lady and to Bell and so just how these wives are strong and awesome and they have their own thing going on and they've you know found a voice in their husband success and they use their platform for good and you know they're not just chill in there in the shadow so that's another podcast you can check out if you want to so |
