Summary

Bob and Kim are back with another Writing Room conversation to talk about what really keeps writers stuck and how to move forward. They explore why writer’s block is often about perfection, how ordinary moments become powerful on-ramps to meaningful stories, and why bad drafts are not just allowed but necessary. With humor, honesty, and plenty of encouragement, Bob and Kim invite you to stop waiting for the perfect moment and start writing now. This just might be the year you write the book.

together to talk writing for people who are listening in, whether

like you're thinking about it. We want to give you a nudge. Why do you what you're doing?

0:50.2

Kim, why is like helping people with writing that blows your hair back?

0:55.3

I think that story changes everything. I really do. The longer we're at this, Bob, we get to hear so many people's stories. We share our own stories. And I don't think people need more bullet point lists. I don't think they need more information. We're in a time where we have more information than we've ever needed.

1:12.6

But stories change the air in the room.

1:15.6

And so that's what excites me about being a writer and about seeing other people tackle this very weird job.

1:23.6

To see their stories in print.

1:25.6

My own grandmother, I just found this. I've got to show it to you sometime. She wrote a book. And I didn't know it. She bound it. It's like, you know, like a kinko's binding. And I found it in an old box and I thought, oh my gosh, I can't wait to read this because no one will be able to say her story

1:44.9

like she said her story. And I think that's what we're up to. We talk about that a lot at the

1:49.2

oaks that if you don't write your story, who will? So it's a pain in the tisher, guys. It takes a while.

1:55.2

And today we're going to talk about how to get unstuck. You mentioned being stuck in traffic, Bob.
