We're here today with Dr. David K. Bernard and we want to ask him about productivity and

ministry and he's going to share some tips and insight with us about how he gets things done in

ministry. Dr. Bernard, people who know you well have remarked on your productivity. I certainly

have been impressed by your ability to get things done. You're the general superintendent of the

Unina Pentecostal Church. That comes with a lot of demands. There's a lot of people pressing

for your time and attention. So just briefly, how do you stay on top of the demands of ministry and get all that work done?

It's hard to explain in a few minutes, but take your time.

I do have a chapter in my book, Spiritual Leadership in the 21st century.

I do talk about time management.

I do think there are some principles that will work to improve

efficiency and effectiveness. So the first thing I would say is planning. You have to spend some

time in planning. So every once in a while, I try to set aside some time and look at the upcoming

year. And now, we're getting ready to roll into a new year.

So when do you typically do that?

Is there a set time of the year that you do that plan?

Typically the end of the year or even the beginning of the next year.

I try to look long range.

What do I want to accomplish this year?

When I was a pastor, I tried to map out not necessarily everything I would preach, but at least some concepts or themes, or if I knew some messages or some series of messages or teaching.
