Yes, the North Korean regime under Kim Jong-il kidnapped South Korean actress Choi Eun-hee and her ex-husband, filmmaker Shin Sang-ok, to force them to make films to improve North Korea's cinema industry, which was an obsession for Kim Jong-il. The couple was reunited in North Korea years after their separate abductions and eventually made several films before escaping to the U.S. Embassy in Vienna in 1986.
