Summary
The value of a new parishioner introducing him or herself to parish life and just asking the priest, “How can I help?” is priceless.
When entering a new community, we may have all of these ideas about what we can do to help, but to listen and simply tell the leaders that you are available shows humility and understanding.
Fr. Mike knows firsthand about all of the different types of parishioners who are on fire for the Faith, and want to do something to enrich parish life. The ones who end up helping the most are those who in essence say, “I am your servant. Tell me what I can do for you.”

| 0:12.2 | getting ready to graduate and some who have already graduated. |
| 0:15.3 | And one of the things that happens is that when students graduate, they leave our Catholic |
| 0:20.8 | community here on campus and they have to go to a Catholic community off campus, like |
| 0:24.7 | a parish and stuff. |
| 0:26.5 | One of the things they find is they say, Father, I get that I'm not going to be marketed |

| 0:32.7 | Like I get that my time at college was like kind of all about college students. |
| 0:35.6 | And so we have some adults come in there like, yet we have to tolerate Father Mike |
| 0:38.6 | talking about, oh, it's finals time or it's the syllabus day or whatever the thing is. |
| 0:42.5 | But I know that when I get to a parish, it's not going to be about me. |
| 0:46.2 | So they have a certain degree of maturity. |
| 0:48.6 | If that's you, if you're like, got to a parish and you're like, man, they don't have |
| 0:51.2 | anything for me. |
| 0:52.8 | I mean, other than the sacraments and holiness and grace and all those things. |
| 0:57.6 | Other than that, they don't have anything specifically for someone who is 24 years old, |
| 1:02.8 | single is from a small town. |
| 1:04.4 | But now it lives in a big town and got a job within engineering firm like something. |
| 1:09.5 | Sometimes we really like the personalized stuff. |
| 1:14.1 | Of course we do. |
| 1:15.1 | That's why things like Spotify and Pandora and Netflix exist. |
