Our topic today is getting free from criticisms, triggers, and reactivity.

You're probably saying, absolutely, give me the magic pill.

I mean, leadership is such a pressure cooker with people coming at us from so many directions.

I mean, so much does come to us as leaders.

And we represent Jesus and in public, even with our families and circles of influence.

So just by the nature of that alone, people have got lots of opinions and criticism about how

we should be doing things.

And then, of course, people do things or say things that trigger us.

They're hot buttons for us and we get angry.

And so we find ourselves in situations where all these triggers flare up. And then finally,

we react then often and we feel terrible. Then we beat ourselves up in shame and anger.

So the question is, how do I get free from people's criticisms and my triggers and my reactivity?

I feel like I'm so sensitive. People often

say to me, I used to feel like that. How do I become a mother and father of the faith, an

emotionally mature adult, someone who's whole, someone who's anchored, centered, living out of my

true self and non-anxiously, non-reactively. So that's a lot about what I'd say

E.H. Discipleship is all about, really, and the course is all about. We're trying to slow people

down, slow you down to be before you do and begin to integrate things like silence and solitude
