GETTIN' SALTY EXPERIENCE PODCAST Ep.159- Our special guest will be 37 year FDNY Staff Chief Mathew Farrell. Appointed to the NYPD in October of 1952 He realized he needed to come over to the Right Side and got assigned to the FDNY in February of 1957. Out of Proby school he was assigned to Engine 233 in The Borough of FIRE! In ‘61 he’s was promoted to LT, ‘66 to Captain, ‘69 to BC where he would serve all still in The Borough Of FIRE! In March of ‘76 he would be promoted to Deputy Chief where he would leave the borough of Fire to go to The BIG CITY being assigned to Division 1 in Manhattan! In ‘78 he was promoted to Deputy Assistant Chief, in ‘80 he was Promoted to Assistant Chief Of Department and in ‘82 He was Assigned back to The Borough Of Fire as the Brooklyn Borough Commander where he would stay until his retirement in 1989. From walking the Beats on the streets to Crawling the Smoke filled halls the chief had plenty of opportunity to see 10 lifetimes worth of action!
