We are in the cave of Yosemite.

Yesterday you were in the last supper room, the upper room

where Jesus instituted the Eucharist and at the end of the last supper they sung a

hymn they left the last supper room on Mount Zion. The Apostles followed Jesus down Mount Zion across the Kidron

Valley and they came immediately to the cave of Gisemene, this cave.

It was there that he told eight of the apostles

to wait, to watch and pray.

And then he took Peter, James, and John

a stone's throw away to the Garden of Gisemini,

where we had our Eucharistic Holy Hour last night.

Now you realize it's only a stone throw away.

We come here this morning after Mass on Calvary. We come here after Mass.

Just like Jesus, just like the Apostles came here after the very first mass in the upper room with the institution

of the Eucharist.

We come here to do the same thing as the apostles.

Jesus came with them here, right here, to this cave.

This is not something destroyed and rebuild, destroyed and rebuilt. We're not sure where it was.

This is the cave where the eight apostles waited and prayed.

But they fell asleep, as indicated by these bronze apostles sleeping under the altar here.

This is not how we want to be memorialized.
