I welcome my good colleague, Dr. Anatole-Levin, director of the Eurasia program,

at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft,

traveling in the Caucasus, in Georgia,

where I've had the occasion to travel twice in my traveling days, a beautiful country with a town

Tbilisi that's the center of all life and interest from the outside, with hotels that were

built before 1914, and hotels that are being built in the 21st century.

At the same time, it's a country that has been torn by confrontation these last decades.

Two pieces of it are now in the possession of the Russian Federation of Haseya and South Ossetia.

And there are questions about its revenue stream, although it is vital to pass through Georgia

for some of the pipelines, some of the gas lines that flow out of the Caspian Sea.

At the same time, Georgia's politics have been changeable these many years,

and I can't now say, is it facing Moscow or is it facing Beijing?

Is it facing the U.S.?

Unknown?

I've visited Tbilisi. I've never visited Yeravan. What is it like in the South Caucasus these

days? Is there a positive feeling of growth, or are they waiting for events in the contest in the
