should have been just another day of heavy traffic on the UK's busiest

motorway.

So the Just Stop Oil campaign has sought to shut down the M25.

And the way of doing it was to climb gantries over the motorway and drop banners and that obliged the police for safety reasons

to shut the motorway.

I'm part of the Just-Up Oil Coalition demanding an end to all new oil and gas licenses in the UK.

For the next four days, sections of the motorway were closed off by the police,

causing huge disruption to the general public.

I was actually due to be a pall bear on my mother's coffin along with my son and we both got that

taken away from us. There was a sense of how dare they. And the political reaction was severe.

There was a great deal of fury, particularly in the billionaire media in Parliament.

Tory ministers responded with absolute outrage.

Earlier that year, the government had brought in the controversial police, crime, sentencing and courts act,

which was criticized as a wholesale attack on the right to protest.

And this week, five of those who planned the protest were convicted under the act.

These appear to be the longest sentences ever for a nonviolent protest and those jailed today
