But anyway, verse 18, but I will establish my covenant

with you, and you shall go into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your son's wives

with you. So, yeah, we'll pause here.

So this is the first place where we hear about a covenant in Genesis.

This is going to become an important concept where we get to Abraham,

and especially when we get into Exodus, right?

It's covenant is such an important concept that our Bible is divided into the old covenant and the new covenant because that's what testament means.

It's a synonym.

So this is the first time we hear it.

So a lot of times when we hear covenant, we know anything about it, we tend to think of contracts, right, or agreements.

Right.

Like this is an agreement between God and Noah, right?

Or an agreement between God and Abraham, an agreement between God and Moses or God and the Israelites, right?

And that's not what it is.

Because you notice, there's no negotiation of terms here.

Right?
