excited that my guest today's General Stanley McChrystal, who essentially was in

charge of prosecuting the war in Iraq,

had many other incredibly important and influential jobs

in the military has become a prolific author.

And I wonder if that's something that was always on your mind to do.

And his newest book is called

Leaders, Myth and Reality.

And I know you want to credit your co-author's,

so who did you write the book with?

Absolutely.

Really it was three of us as main authors, myself and Jeff Eggers, a former Navy SEAL

who then worked with me in Afghanistan and worked in the White House.

And then a younger author who was a Boston college graduate

who spent four years in the Marine Corps

as an infantryman and then worked on national service

with me.

And the three of us were the main authors

and then I got to admit we hired three brilliant young people out of college who worked just incredibly hard for 18 months as we produced this.

To help research it. Absolutely. Help you guys. They did the real thinking and we've taken all the credit well that's great well you're not taking all the

credit you're sharing it all right let's get into this so you're a lifelong

student of power as an aspect of leadership.
